About Untitled (Rabbit and Bird)
"Untitled (Rabbit and Bird)" is one of the most recognized paintings of the "animal and bird" theme by the Indian master Rabindranath Tagore. His first paintings are highly imaginative works, usually focusing on animals or imaginary creatures, which are imbued with vitality and humour. Tagore celebrated creative freedom in his technique; he never hesitated to daub and smear coloured ink on paper to give life to his disquieting range of subjects. The best of his works are united by a mysterious immediacy of impact that enchants and then haunts the viewer. His painting style was very individual, characterised by simple bold forms and a rhythmic quality, and later served to inspire many modern Indian artists.
