Edvard Munch Paintings

Edvard Munch (1863 – 1944)  was a Norwegian painter who played a great role in late 19th-century Symbolism.

The paintings he made focused on the internal view of the objects, as he believed that art should reflect an emotion or idea rather than represent the natural world in the objective. Munch explored the themes of love, fear, death, melancholia and anxiety via his paintings.

About The Dance Of Life
"The Dance Of Life " is a famous painting by Edvard Munch who was inspired by symbolism and used colours symbolically to express different feelings: red for love, passion and pain; white for youth, innocence and joy; and black for loneliness, sorrow and death. This painting houses various kinds of psychology of the people in the 19th century. The couple in between showing their love, while the one man at the back trying to force himself on the lady, on the left we see the moon and moonbeam mirrored in the sea as a symbol of fertility and the mystical spirit of life.
