‘The Horseman of the Apocalypse’ was created in 1970 by Salvador Dali in Expressionism style. An aquatint in colors, on Japan paper, 1975, signed and dated in the plate 1962. Larger etchings were Issued in a portfolio entitled “Calderon: La vie est un song” which consisted of 12 works and was published in 1971. Salvador Dalí was perhaps the most broadly known member of the Surrealist movement of the early twentieth century. Heavily influenced by Sigmund Freud, the avant-garde style explored consciousness and dream-like states through exaggerated landscapes and bizarre or grotesque imagery.
