The Battle of Pollilur took place on September 10, 1780, near the village of Pollilur in Tamil Nadu, India, during the Second Anglo-Mysore War (1780–1784) between the British East India Company and the Kingdom of Mysore, led by Tipu Sultan.This battle is significant because it was one of the major early victories for Tipu Sultan against the British forces. The British, under the command of Colonel William Baillie, were marching towards the city of Guntur to join forces with another British contingent. However, they were intercepted by Tipu Sultan's Mysorean army, resulting in a fierce and decisive battle.
