Müller wrote in his travelogues, "His genre pictures are characterized by close observation and elegant talk, their colorism has more shine than strength, more shimmer than flicker ". The prestigious Vienna art critic Ludwig Hevesi ruled in 1903 about him: "Recently, Müller has ... an excellent successor found in Karl Wilda".In his paintings, daily life in Cairo, where he frequented, played the most important role. His pictures have titles like "The Snake Charmer" or "The Storyteller". In 1892 he undertook with the same-age sculptor Arthur Strasser on an Egypt tour, where he also found inspiration for his artistic work.
