About Primavera
"Primavera", meaning "Spring", is the most famous painting by the Italian Renaissance painter Sandro Botticelli featuring six female figures and two male, along with a cupid, in an orange grove. It has been described as "one of the most written about, and most controversial paintings in the world", and also "one of the most popular paintings in Western art". In the center is the Roman goddess, Venus, represents the “Humanitas” (the benevolence or goodwill), as she distinguishes the material (right) from the spiritual values ??(left). The Humanitas promotes the ideal of a positive man, confident in his abilities, and sensitive to the needs of others. In the air above her a blindfolded Cupid aims his bow to the left. On the right Zephyrus (the biting wind of March) chases Chloris and fecundates her with a breath. Chloris then becomes the goddess of Spring and eternal bearer of life, Flora, the elegant woman scattering her flowers over the world. On the left the three Graces dance, representing the feminine virtues of Chastity, Beauty, Love, all of which point to romance and Mercury (the god of the month of May) dissipates the grey clouds.
