New Beauty - Ito Shinsui - Japanese Woodblock Ukiyo-e Art Painting Print - Framed Prints

Ito Shinsui is one of the great names of the Shin Hanga art movement. His sensual, expressive depiction of bijin - beautiful young women - made him immortal.

Ito Shinsui was born in 1898 in Fukagawa, Tokyo, with the original name of Hajime. He had to start an apprenticeship in a Tokyo printing company at a very early age. Later he became a student of Kiyokata Kaburagi. When he was only 17 years old, he was admitted to exhibit at the Bunten exhibition.
