Ladies' Suit (Traje de mujer) – Remedios Varo - Surrealist Art Painting - Posters
Remedios Varo, also known as María de los Remedios Alicia Rodriga Varo y Uranga, Spanish-Mexican artist who played an integral role in the Mexico City-based Surrealist movement.
Renaissance art inspired harmony, tonal nuances, and narrative structure in Varo's paintings. The allegorical nature of much of Varo's work especially recalls the paintings of Hieronymus Bosch, and some critics, such as Dean Swinford, have described her art as "postmodern allegory," much in the tradition of Irrealism.
Her compositions also include architectural features that make direct reference to medieval art and show her expert draftsmanship. She was an admirer of Hiëronymus Bosch, whose mysterious compositions undoubtedly influenced her.
