VASUDEVA DEVAKI BANDHANA VIMOCHAN or the Release of Vasudeva and Devaki: Kamsa, Devaki’s brother, had held the couple captive on the pretext their 8th child would kill them. Despite his best efforts, fate ordained and Krishna, the 9th incarnation of Vishnu was born. Krishna killed Kamsa and thereafter immediately released his parents from captivity. This print from the Ravi Varma Press derived from a painting by Raja Ravi Varma depicts the infant Krishna ordering the release of his parents.
