About Karna Vadh
"Karna Vadh" is a very famous painting by Raja Ravi Varma that depicts a pivotal moment in the Battle of Kurukshetra, the death of Karna. Karna is one of the central characters in the Hindu epic Mahabharata and one of the greatest warriors, whose martial exploits are recorded in the epic, and the only warrior believed to be able to defeat Arjuna in battle. In the war, Karna performs brilliantly against Arjuna until his chariot gets struck in the mud. He gets off from his chariot and asks Arjuna to pause reminding him the rules of the war. Though both, killing a weaponless warrior and killing from back is forbidden in Kurukshetra war, Arjuna kills defenseless Karna by the forbidden way using the Anjalika weapon only on the insistence of Lord Krishna.
