"Saraswati" is a rare and beautiful painting of the Hindu Goddess Saraswati by Raja Ravi Varma. He has followed the iconographic description of Saraswati in chapter 50 of the Agni Purana: in white, playing the veena, holding an akshamala, i.e. a string of pearls, and a book. Saraswati is the Hindu goddess of knowledge, music, arts, wisdom, and learning as well as a part of the trinity (Tridevi) of Saraswati, Lakshmi and Parvati. All the three forms help the trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva to create, maintain and regenerate-recycle the Universe respectively.
