Abanindranath Tagore
Abanindranath Tagore was born at Jorasanko in the Tagore family home in Calcutta. He was the nephew of Rabindranath Tagore. In 1907, Abanindranath together with his brother Gaganendranath Tagore founded the Indian Society of Oriental Art which became the harbinger of an indigenous modernism in Indian art in the early twentieth century. Abanindranath Tagore was also the first major exponent of Swadeshi values in Indian art, thereby founding the influential Bengal school of art, which led to the development of modern Indian painting. He was also a noted writer, particularly for children. View Artist Collection

Accolades From Our Customers

I would definitely recommend Tallenge Store, and especially the Van Gogh Collection! Thanks for a great experience.
I've always collected more traditionally-styled artwork, but I just really love Modern Master’s Collection on Tallenge Store. I enjoy looking at these works every day, so a big thanks to Tallenge Store for broadening my taste in art.
The team answered my questions very patiently prior to purchase and accommodated all my requests. The painting itself was delivered on time to me in London and the quality of packaging was commendable.
