Thomas Daniell was an English landscape painter who also painted Orientalist themes. Thomas Daniel made his name with a series of prints and aquatints of views based on his travels in India in 1786–1794. Such ‘exotic’ Indian scenes became the stock-in-trade for Daniell for the rest of his career. View Artist Collection

About Quidsia Bagh Delhi Thomas Daniell Vintage Orientalist Paintings of India
See Archer, op. cit., where she quotes Thomas Daniell's journal: "Cotsea Bhaug, so called from the bhaug, or garden, within the quadrangular building, which was erected by the Cotsea Begum, a Mahommedan lady, in the reign of the Emperor Akbar..." The building shown in this print, enclosing the Qudsia Bagh, has completely disappeared. It formed the eastern bastion of the Red Fort, a gateway of which can be seen in the distance. See Archer op. cit. In 1806, Humphry Repton based part of his design for the Royal Pavilion at Brighton, East Sussex. See Archer op. cit.
