Mimosa – Henri Matisse Painting Framed Print

18x14 inches
" Mimosa" by Henri Matisse is an art work which was very well received in his times. Henri Matisse first experimented with cut-outs between 1943 and 1947 when, ill health prevented him from painting. But he considered the creative period after his illness liberating, that his cut-outs functioned as a new medium, like "painting with scissors." Still interested in colour and design, Matisse produced cut-outs for maquettes, book plates, stained glass window designs, tapestries, and ceramics. |

Widely regarded as the greatest colourist and along with Picasso, as one of the artists who best helped to define and influence radical contemporary art in the 20th century, Henri-Emile-Benoit Matisse (1869-1954) was known for both his excellent use of colour and form of his Fauvist style. Matisse's art continues to beguile not only artists, but also collectors and as several recent and upcoming blockbuster exhibitions suggest, he continues to be a favourite of the public worldwide.
